Crypt_Import Scene

In this week Mr.Nick’s Maya class, I have learned how to import the Crypt scene sequences into the Maya. I have exported the camera and the point clouds separately and then imported them in Maya, the following image is the scene I have just imported in Maya.

For the next step, I have imported the sequence images of the Crypt for my camera’s environment setting, and then I set my model into the scene and corrected its size and position. I have used the planes which I have made and exported from Nuke to check my model’s position. After that, I have checked the triangle point from the scene to see whether the camera and my model are matched or not.

After setting up my model, the next is lighting for my model. To make the same environment light, I have created a skydome and imported the Crypt’s HDR file so that the model’s shape will reflect the same light in the Crypt. But only the skydome light is not bright enough to see my model and the HDR image doesn’t have enough light information inside the crypt, so I need to set up some lights manually. As the image shows, I have tried to restore the lighting position of the original scene and created two planes, letting them become walls to block some lights.

The issues that I have got during setting up my model are camera and lighting. I had a problem with my camera’s movement when I first import it into Maya and import the sequence images, it will suddenly rotate and scale up from one or two frames, I thought it may be an issue with my image sequence, I have created many image-plane when I see this issue so that every time I play the scene, Maya will pick my image-plane randomly, and some of these are still got the issues. So after Mr.Nick’s help, I realized that is the problem with my camera, so this problem has been solved.

The second is lighting issues. After I set two lights in the scene, my model looks still very dark after I render out, but when I change the values of exposure, it looks incompatible in the scene. I think it may be the problem of shadows and textures, so the next step, I will reset my lights and create a shadow matte texture on the ground and see how’s going with that.
