The harder they fall & Australia

The harder they fall & Australia (2008 film)

The Harder They Fall is a 2021 American Revisionist Western film directed by Jeymes Samuel, who co-wrote the screenplay with Boaz Yakin. Although a fictional film, its characters are based on real cowboys, lawmen, and outlaws of the 19th-century American West.

It is a story of love and revenge. An 11 year-old Nat Love is eating dinner with his parents when Rufus Buck and his gang come to their house, gun down his parents, and carve a cross into his forehead. 20 years later, he killed Rufus Buck and Buck told him he is Love’s cousin. Bucks father who is Love’s father abandoned Buck and killed his mum and start a new life with Love’s mother, that’s the reason why the first sense happened.

In the Movie, there are many special and effectual lens languages that shows the character’s deep mind. Also, before the gang members starts fight, there are not much talking in the movie, what we can see is different character’s face and different lens language, these lens language can let the audience feels this tense atmosphere. The director use many close shot to film characters face and colours they used can clearly and accurately to reflect these characters mental activities.

Australia is a 2008 adventure drama film directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. The screenplay was written by Luhrmann and screenwriter Stuart Beattie, with Ronald Harwood and Richard Flanagan. The film is a character story, set between 1939 and 1942 against a dramatized backdrop of events across northern Australia at the time, such as the bombing of Darwin during World War II.

This movie shows me the power of nature, a man and his crews are going to control 1,500 bulls and drive them to Darwin. Frighten, death and dangerous surround them, but they are not afraid, they have no way back. What I have been shocked in ‘Australia’ is how human being can against to nature and tame these huge amounts of bulls. This movie doesn’t have many gun shots but it also gives me a feeling of passion and nervous because of these characters personality and huge pictures of nature and huge amount of animals, only four people to control these 1500 bulls.

In conclusion, The Harder They Fall and Australia are all set in a big wild background, riding on the horse to against enemies which is stronger and unbeatable, although they lost friends and family but in the end, they have a good ending. In Harder They Fall, there are many camera language and colours the director chooses, these can clearly to present the character’s characteristic and many action scenes let this movie get more passion and let the audience willing to keep watching. Compare to The Harder They Fall, Australia is more relax and humour, the lady who come from England first arrive Australia such as a western place, people kill kangaroos, dirty and uncourteous,  culture’s different make the movie a bit interesting and humour, but to tame bulls and many risks during the trip make the audience feels passion and excited.
